What to expect

Taima-dera Temple is an ancient temple located in the "western" part of ancient Yamato, boasting a grand temple complex in the Hakuhō and Tenpyō styles. In addition to preserving Hakuhō period art such as the Maitreya Buddha and Four Heavenly Kings in the main hall and the temple bell, it is also known as the only temple in Japan with a pair of ancient three-story pagodas remaining, one in the east and one in the west. This tour will allow you to see six of the eight national treasures owned by Taima-dera Temple. You will also have the opportunity to experience special activities such as a matcha tea ceremony in a tea room designated as an Important Cultural Property, which is usually closed to the public, and copying Buddhist images.
