[Kyoto] CHOYA UME STUDIO & Nishiki Market Half-Day Private Experience
- What to expect
-
Immerse yourself in Kyoto’s preservation culture through a unique hands-on umeshu experience. In collaboration with CHOYA UME STUDIO Kyoto Sanjo, create your own personalized Japanese plum liqueur (or non-alcoholic ume syrup) by tasting different ume varieties, sugars, and base flavors. Learn how umeshu differs from wine through its slow steeping and maturation process, a tradition deeply connected to Japanese food culture. The experience also includes a visit to Nishiki Market, known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen,” where you will explore Kyoto’s traditional pickling culture and discover flavors that pair well with your handcrafted umeshu. More than just a workshop, this experience offers a deeper understanding of seasonality, fermentation, and Kyoto’s culinary heritage.
