Nishiyama Brewery’s cultural importance lies not only in its buildings. It also has a rich history connected with many writers and artists. The brewery, which has been passed down through the family for generations, has been used as a culture salon by many writers and artists, such as famed haiku poet Kyoshi Takahama. Three buildings in the brewery have been designated by the Japanese government as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties.
