- We then go to the beautiful castle of Himeji. Here, one of the 12 original castles of Japan still intact. Himeji Castle is a symbol of Japan’s feudal past, and we have the opportunity to discover its wooden keep as it was in 1618. The castle is the first attraction of Himeji city but the Engyo-ji temple sits even further, perched in the mountain. We can enjoy the day before e to visit the castle to sink us into Mount Shosha and to visit this temple, a high place of History and which was also one of the shooting places of the famous movie "The Last Samurai". It’s beautiful! A short bus ride then cable car and we are there.
