Overview
  • Join a warm and local walking experience in Bizen, Okayama—home to Bizen ware, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. The tour is led by the wife of a local potter.
  • In the quiet pottery town of Imbe, you’ll walk through historic streets where traditional climbing kilns and old-style houses still remain. We’ll visit key cultural spots such as the ruins of a centuries-old kiln and Amatsu Shrine, a place historically cherished by Bizen potters. If you're interested and our schedule aligns, I’ll also guide you to my husband’s working pottery studio and gallery.
  • Midway through the tour, we’ll take a relaxing break at UDO Café, a local favorite where you can enjoy a drink served in handcrafted Bizen pottery. (Please note: the cost of drinks is not included in the tour fee.)
  • The tour is available in English and is family-friendly—perfect for those traveling with young children or anyone seeking a slower, more personal experience of rural Japan.
