During the Edo period, the Shikama Kaido road, which was developed from the port of Shikamatsu towards Himeji Castle, became part of the Gin no Bachamichi (Silver Mine Road), a major industrial route connecting the Ikuno Silver Mine, once one of Japan's leading silver mines, to the port of Shikamatsu, and still retains its character today. This 3-hour cycling tour takes you along this historical road towards the refreshing sea breeze of Himeji Port, and also guides you to the cycling road on the跡 of the abandoned railway line and the charming sake breweries.
