Otaru Tenguyama (Mt. Tengu), standing at 532.4m above sea level, is a mountain that has become a symbol of Otaru. From its summit, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the town and the Sea of Japan, as well as one of Hokkaido's three best night views - a lovely nightscape created by what looks like jewels scattered all over the town. The summit is also home to observatories awarded one star by the Michelin Green Guide Japan, as well as a restaurant, a statue of a long-nosed Tengu goblin that is said to grant your wishes if you stroke its nose, and playground equipment such as slides.
