- What to expect
-
1. Departure and Assembly At the agreed time, the driver will arrive at the designated location in the Toya Lake Onsen area, verify the information, and set off on a volcano exploration tour. 2. Volcano Science Museum A 15-minute drive will take you to the Volcano Science Museum, the "knowledge starting point" for understanding the Toya Lake volcano group. The museum uses dynamic images and volcanic models to recreate the eruption scenes of Mount Usu in 1977 and 2000, and explains volcanic geology, disaster prevention knowledge, and surrounding ecology with graphic exhibition boards, laying the groundwork for subsequent on-site visits. 3. Nishi-yama Crater + Nishi-yama Crater Observatory A 5-minute drive will take you to the Nishi-yama crater area. Follow the driver to the exclusive promenade. This is a group of craters formed by the eruption of Mount Usu in 2000. Along the way, you can see white smoke coming from fumaroles, volcanic rocks scattered around, and the road remains destroyed by the earthquake.
