What to expect

This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Meet Michiko at the Ikegami train station and then walk together to her cooking studio, to enjoy making udon and practicing calligraphy with a Tokyo local! In your 2.5 hour hands-on cooking class, learn to make handmade udon noodles from scratch. Udon is a type of traditional Japanese noodles that are soft with a thick, chewy texture. Be prepared to knead, stomp and cut the noodles, before you use it to prepare a special noodle soup with pork. And then, enjoy a meal of fresh homemade udon served with spinach and a seasonal fruit. After your hands-on Japanese cooking class, you will also practice the art of calligraphy, using traditional calligraphy tools to write kanji characters.
