- Overview
-
- Meet at Connectrip on the shores of Lake Abashiri in Abashiri Quasi-National Park and change into dry suits! Once you're ready, move with your guide to the starting point in the Sea of Okhotsk. We'll guide you to the venue, either Futatsuiwa Beach, where the drift ice washes ashore, or around the Mokoto River on Lake Mokoto, depending on the conditions. Let's go out on the drift ice in the Sea of Okhotsk in a kayak! Kayaks are for two people. If wind speeds of 5m or more blow, the tour will be canceled.
- What to expect
-
Enjoy kayaking in the Sea of Okhotsk where drift ice floats in Abashiri, the southernmost point where drift ice reaches! Enjoy the charm of the drift ice sea with a spectacular view that you can't find anywhere else while gazing at the snow-capped Shiretoko mountain range in the distance! Maehama in Abashiri City is a rocky area and is a production area of Rishiri kelp! Sea urchins live in the kelp forests that are rich in minerals carried by the drift ice. If you're lucky, you may be able to see fishermen fishing for sea urchins! After the kayaking, you will enjoy a mini sea urchin meal made with sea urchins from Abashiri!
