Hakone Shrine, founded around 757, is famous as a place of worship for many military commanders. Many travelers who visit Hakone also come here to pray for a safe journey. The Izu Cactus Zoo, which opened in 1959, grows about 1,500 species of cacti and succulents from all over the world. It is also famous for "capybaras bathing in open-air hot springs." Omuroyama is a dormant volcano and the prototype of the meteorite crater in Makoto Shinkai's movie "Your Name". From March to May, the cherry blossoms and spring flowers at the foot of the mountain bloom, and the weather is warm and pleasant, making it a good time for outdoor activities.
