* ## [Asahiyama Zoo] Asahiyama Zoo is located in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and is Japan's northernmost zoo. It is now one of the most popular zoos in Japan in terms of visitor numbers. Who says that most animals in zoos are closed and hibernating in winter? Strolling through Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido on a snowy day is a unique experience! Adorable penguins march together in the snow, clumsy raccoons climb overhead making faces, curious seals swim up and down the glass columns playing and circling, and troops of monkeys huddle together for warmth.
