- About 50,000 years ago and 1888, Mt. Bandai suffered major eruptions that caused the collapse of the mountain itself, resulting in a mountain with completely different faces on the south side of Omote Bandai and on the north side of Urabandai. At the same time, many lakes and ponds were formed, including Lake Inawashiro, Lake Hibara, and Lake Goshikinuma. Helicopter tours allow visitors to fully enjoy the changing faces of these mountains and the panoramic views of the geopark, including lakes and ponds.
