This exhibition introduces the world of prints by world-renowned avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama (1929-). The encounter between Yayoi Kusama and printmaking, a form of replicative art, was almost inevitable, given that the proliferation of nets and polka dots lies at the core of her creative practice. Since the late 1970s, she has actively pursued printmaking, which has played a significant role in shaping her current artistic recognition. This exhibition presents a comprehensive showcase of her works, ranging from early prints featuring vibrant motifs such as pumpkins, dresses, hats, grapes, flowers, and butterflies to her recent woodblock print series of Mount Fuji and her iconic Love Forever series. This exhibition will showcase the wonder of Yayoi Kusama’s print art, including selected works from the 340 prints in the collection of the Matsumoto City Museum of Art in Nagano Prefecture, Kusama’s hometown, which holds the world’s largest collection of Kusama prints, as well as works from the artist’s coll
