Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into a serene traditional tatami room, where they are invited to remove their shoes and settle into a calm space. The experience begins with a cultural introduction from a knowledgeable guide, who explains the history, philosophy, and etiquette of the tea ceremony. Guests then observe a live demonstration of matcha preparation using authentic tools like the chasen (bamboo whisk), chawan (tea bowl), and chashaku (bamboo scoop).
Next, guests prepare their own bowl of matcha, whisking the tea into a delicate froth with mindful focus. Afterward, they taste various types of matcha, noting subtle differences in flavor, bitterness, and aroma. Seasonal wagashi (sweets) are served to complement the tea. The tranquil atmosphere of the tatami room encourages quiet reflection, making this experience a peaceful moment of cultural connection.
