    • 活动详情 For approximately 1.6 kilometers from the Omekaido Road intersection in front of Suginami City Hall to the Waseda-Dori Road intersection, Japanese zelkova trees line both sides of Nakasugi-Dori Road. These trees are said to be of the largest scale in Tokyo, providing shade in summer under the lush green leaves that change to a pleasant yellow in the fall; the trees have become a symbol of Asagaya.

    • 活动详情 Usually every year in the end of August the “Tokyo Koenji Awa-Odori” Festival is held, but this year it had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The station master of Koenji Station proposed to the “Association for Tokyo Koenji Awa-Odori Promotion” that “Even in this situation perhaps there is something we can do to communicate the spirit, enthusiasm and liveliness of Awa-Odori.” The result was the decision to display past posters over the years for the event on the station premises and surrounding grounds. The posters include about 20 displays with some going back as far as 40 years. Let the spirit of the traditional festival invigorate you when you pass through Koenji Station.

      On display until August 31st.

    • 活动详情 The Momozonogawa Greenway is at the former site of the Momozonogawa River, made into a verdant walking path that runs the river’s course, stretching 1,600 meters east to west. Scattered along the promenade are many art objects related to the river theme, such as water creatures. In particular the sitting kappa (a turtle-like being in Japanese folklore) located at Koenjiminami 2 Chome is well known by locals as it can often be found adorned by a straw hat, flowers, or a scarf, depending on the season. While walking along the verdant path you will find plenty of sights that make you want to take photos.

    • 活动详情 A 5 minute-walk from the south exit of Koenji Station and through a back street from the main shopping street brings you to Chosenji Temple. Its impressive deep red gate with 2 Deva King guardian statues serves as a landmark. Passing through this gate expands into a beautiful verdant Japanese garden, where you can enjoy the scenery of each season. On the grounds you can also find a Buddhist Kannon stone statue that is known as the “God of Teeth” due to the fact that the pose of the statue has its right hand held up to its cheek, and is known to “bear your tooth pain in your place.” One attraction to this Buddhist temple is its solemn atmosphere, opposite to the bustling shopping street it sits beside.
