All of these factors make Za Koenji Theater a well known facility to many people inside and outside of the region.

    • 活动详情 Until the summer of 2020 the picture book café “Mucchi’s Café” was operating in Koenji, but on November 6 they opened in their newly relocated location about 10 minutes on foot from JR Nishi-Ogikubo Station.

Mucchi’s concept is “A picture book café that adults can also enjoy.” Their new location has counter and table seating for a total of 12 seats. In the café there is an extensive range of picture books to peruse, from nostalgic books that many adults will have enjoyed when they were children to recent publications. Customers can also enjoy the surroundings as there are moveable walls that make the space more suitable for author exhibitions and such than before.

Even the menu features items that weren’t available at their past location, such as fluffy pancakes and daily-changing meal options. Here you can really enjoy a leisurely time. In the neighborhood there are variety stores and other shops that have picture books, so about stopping by Mucchi’s when out on a stroll in the area?

*When entering the café, please follow guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing a mask and using hand sanitizer/disinfectant. If you feel unwell, please refrain from visiting.

    • 活动详情 The illumination at the south exit square of Koenji Station will be lit up this year as well. This marks the 8th year of the illumination. In a usual year there is a festival held when the lights are first turned on with music by wind ensembles from local schools and a sake toast, but that has been canceled this year, of course, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Instead, local shop staff gathered in small numbers the first time the lights were turned on.
The 2 main trees are a simple and gentle yellow, while the smaller trees and plants are lit up in blue to show gratitude to medical workers.

*When going to see the illumination, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 please follow necessary guidelines such as wearing a mask, keeping social distance of 1-2 meters apart, and refraining from going out altogether when you feel unwell.

      Illumination Schedule
4:15PM – 12:00AM (in the event of a state of emergency declaration, etc. there may be changes)
      Daily until February 10, 2021

    • 活动详情 24 restaurants have submitted entries on the 「Koenji Department Store」 website for their original curry dishes that are not limited to curry-rice as they also include curry skewers, curry bread, curry pasta and more. Votes will be cast to find out which is the most popular to win the Grand Prix prize in this “store operated” curry festival.
The event was decided on because in recent years many spice-curry shops have opened in Koenji, establishing it as a 「Curry Town」 that deserves more notice.

There are 2 parts in the event, voting for the curry you want to eat on the web November 16 – 27, and then at the participating restaurants you can try those new items over the weekend November 28 – 29. If you get 2 “voting and lottery vouchers” from those participating restaurants you can enter in the drawing where you can win meal vouchers and Koenji mascot character goods. If you have a chance, please participate in this festival to help decide Koenji’s No. 1 curry!

At participating restaurants and the lottery venue, please cooperate with guidelines to prevent the spread of disease by wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer, and refraining from participation if you have a fever or are in poor health. There will also be an appeal to keep 1m social distance, with further requests and updates made on the website and social media.

Event dates: November 16 (Mon) – 27 (Fri) Event 1 「Web Vote for the Curry you Want to Eat」
November 28 (Sat) & 29 (Sun) Event 2 「Eat at Restaurants and the Real Vote」

    • 活动详情 With the motto of “Making the town of Asagaya cheerful and fun through jazz”, this will be the 26th year the “Asagaya Jazz Streets” festival is held. • 活动详情 This park was established on the former site of the Ministry of Agriculture’s silk examination area, and the old gate and management office made out of brick still remain here as they were in those times. This large park also serves as common space for a neighboring elementary school and has been designated as an evacuation site in the event of a disaster, having a storage of supplies for various disaster protection. Inside the park is spacious, with a large sycamore tree in the center as the “gathering place”, a grassy knoll and a pond “relaxation space”, and others. For these reasons the park is usually bustling with activity of people enjoying the scenery, families spending time together, and so on.
