Some locals call Cave Okinawa "Nuchishinujigama" ("the cave where life was saved" in the Okinawan dialect), and it is known as a place of good fortune that is revered by the locals, and has come to attract attention as a "power spot." The name comes from two stories of when lives were saved here. The first time was during the Ryukyu period. Legend has it that the prince of Nakijin Castle, a World Heritage site, escaped to this cave after a battle, survived, and later built Iha Castle. The second time, about 300 residents were evacuated here during the Battle of Okinawa, but not a single person lost his or her life. During that evacuation, a male and female child was born, and the site is known as a place of good fortune. The highlight of Cave Okinawa is the symbolic and extremely rare "red and white" stalactite. This area was the birthplace of the male and female children during the batle of Okinawa, and is considered a very auspicious place. There are also many stalactites such as "Golden Rocks" which bring
