**Hyotei Specialty Breakfast Porridge:** The Michelin three-star century-old specialty breakfast porridge, served with a mysterious Japanese-style boiled egg and traditional side dishes that the store owner is reluctant to reveal, a soup porridge base that is unique to adults, and a wabi-sabi breakfast in a stunning courtyard that celebrities, politicians, and Gion gentlemen linger on. **Nanzenji Temple:** The earliest Zen temple in Japan founded by Emperor Kameyama. In the Kamakura period, the Japanese royal family generally respected Buddhism, and Nanzenji Temple was named the first of the five Buddhist Zen temples in Kyoto by Emperor Go-Daigo. A section of the Lake Biwa Canal is located in Nanzenji Temple. The unique red brick European-style elevated waterway in the Meiji era interspersed the simple and elegant Zen temple, and has long been a frequent location for TV dramas.
