The 1.3 km-long Togoshi Ginza Shopping Street is one of the longest such streets in the Kanto area. It is a very lively street with many customers even on weekdays. There are 400 shops comprising three promotional organizations: specialty shops selling necessities such as grocery stores, clothing stores and general stores as well as essential services including medical clinics, welfare facilities, banks and dry cleaners. There is even a golf school and glass workshop to enjoy one's spare time. Overall, this is a community-based shopping district. It has a popular mascot character, Togoshi Ginjiro (commonly called Gin-chan) who livens up the street and events. Togoshi Ginza croquette (Japanese hash brown) is a popular food here that many shops make in their own style. Food fairs from different regions are held regularly at Gin-chan Bussan Theater; they offer free tastings and giveaways, too. A ten-minute walk from Togoshi Ginza Station on the Tokyu Ikegami Line.

Shinagawa-jinja Shrine was said to be built on the orders of Minamoto no Yoritomo (1147–1199), founder of the Kamakura Government, for the security of seafaring vessels and as a personal wish. The shrine was called Kita-shinagawa Inari-sha (enshrining a fox deity) during the Edo period. When Tokai-ji temple in northern Shinagawa was founded, the shrine served as its guardian shrine until the end of the Edo period because it was in the unlucky northeast direction (kimon, or demon gate) of Tokai-ji. The aging shrine was rebuilt in 1964. It is one of 10 shrines in Tokyo. Its annual festival in June, called Shinagawa-jinja Reitaisai, attracts so many people that you cannot move in the street. Portable shrine bearers come from neighboring prefectures in Kanto; the mikoshi sway to the tempo of drums and flute (called Shinagawa-byoshi). In and around the shrine are many stalls enhancing the festive mood. Its touted benefits include: success in entrance exams, health or recovery from illness, business success and luck. A one-minute walk from the North Exit of Shin-bamba Station on the Keihin Kyuko Line.

Tokaido Road was one of the main roads established during the Edo Period. Tokaido Shinagawa-shuku was the first stop on the road that connected Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto. The station had a honjin and waki-honjin (main and auxiliary lodgings for feudal lords and his vassals) and hatago inns where common people stayed, and toiyaba, the administrative office for freight forwarders. During the Edo Period (1603-1868), Shinagawa was a lively town with a population of 7,000 and 1,600 houses. The Old Tokaido Road, which still has the same width as it did in the Edo Period, is now a tourist attraction with a free-of-charge rest house, dagashiya (traditional snack stores) which are hard to find these days, and a wide variety of historical and scenic sites. A tour around the major spots will take about two hours at a leisurely pace. Sento, or traditional style public baths, are still in operation although the number is decreasing. It is really a nice experience to relax in a large bathtub after walking around. Shinagawa-shuku is close to Kitashinagawa, Shin-Banba and Aomono-Yokocho stations on the Keikyu Main Line.

This is a new style aquarium located in the Shinagawa Prince Hotel. The aquarium consists of two floors and 11 booths. On the first floor, called the ground floor, there are not only displays of sea creatures for one to appreciate, but there are water tanks with touch panels and other attractions. You can enjoy many performances that are linked with sea creatures. As for the Jellyfish Ramble, which provides a harmony of swaying jellyfish, lighting, and sounds, the mysterious world it creates is very attractive. On the second floor, there is an undersea tunnel of about 20 meters in length, and you can see about 10 species of rays and other sea life that you can only see in this aquarium. The main attraction is the stadium, where you can enjoy the dynamic performance of the dolphins. You can also view the show from 360 degrees. In addition, there is a café bar with a dreamy atmosphere created by luminous coral, and other attractions, such as a merry-go-round. It is located a two-minute walk from the Takanawa Exit of the Shinagawa Station on the JR Keikyu Line and the Shinkansen (bullet train) Line.

Hara Museum of Contemporary Art was opened in 1979 as a museum of contemporary art utilizing a western-style building designed by Jin Watanabe, who modeled it on 1930's European-style architecture. It houses an art collection of more than 1,000 works from Japan, Europe, Asia and Latin America and introduces a wide range of post-1950's contemporary art including paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos and installation art. There is a cafe facing the courtyard where you can relax and enjoy a drink or a dish made with seasonal ingredients after enjoying the world of art. In the museum shop you will find items that may add an artistic touch to your every day life. It is 15-minute walk from the Takanawa exit of JR Shinagawa Station. Alternatively, you can take the Toei bus bound for Gotanda Station from Shinagawa Station, get off at the Gotenyama stop and walk three minutes.

The western building designed in the Renaissance style was designed by the English architect, Josiah Conder. After the completion, the interiors the building were designed by Seiki Kuroda who was an artist of Western paintings. Later on in 1962, it was purchased by Seisen University and since then it has been used as its academic building with the thought that the students can study in a real cultural environment. In 2012, it was acknowledged for its historical significance and was registered as Tokyo Metropolitan area-designated tangible cultural property. The interior of the building such as the sculptures on the fireplaces, the staircase handrails and the stained glass are all kept in the same state as when they were constructed and since it is used as the main building of Seisen University, the days when the building can be visited by outsiders are limited to dates like official opening days, the annual garden party or during the campus festival. Please check in advance. It is a 10-minute walk from ”Gotanda” Station accessible with the JR Yamanote Line, the Toei Subway Asakusa Line or the Tokyu Ikegami Line.
