• There are only five castles designated as national treasures in Japan. Matsumoto Castle is the oldest. The house of Nakata family was the traditional guest house built in the Edo period frequently visited by the lord of Matsumoto Castle. We will present a special occasion to enjoy and experience tea ceremony with a tea master in this guest house.

A black Lexus will pick you up at the hotel where you are staying in Matsumoto City (in front of Matsumoto Station, around Matsumoto Castle, Asama Onsen, Utsukushi-ga-hara Onsen, Tobira Onsen). Departing from the hotel around 8:30 a.m., the tour will take you to the Nakada House, an important cultural property of Matsumoto City that is not normally open to the public, for a private tea ceremony experience (in English) with a local tea ceremony instructor. This private tea ceremony experience allows you to have exclusive access to the building and garden, which is a cultural asset.
