Lake Akan, located in Kushiro City (formerly Akan Town) in eastern Hokkaido, is a caldera lake with an area of 13.28 km2, a circumference of 30 km, and a maximum depth of 45 m. It is a representative tourist destination in eastern Hokkaido, and the entire area is part of Akan Mashu National Park.
