- Wakasa Obama, the closest port town on the Sea of Japan to Kyoto, was once a "Miketsukuni" (food province) that presented seafood to the Imperial Court, and has supported Kyoto's food culture through the "Mackerel Highway."
- A fishing village surrounded by a calm inland sea and mountains, Ana, Obama City, is a place rich in nature. A former symbol of the region, this inn has been fully renovated and opened as "Wakasa Kabi" in the summer of 2023.
