サントリー美術館

Description

Suntory Holdings Limited, a Japanese beverage maker, opened the Suntory Museum of Art in 1961. Its collection includes about 3,000 works that are basically related to the beauty in our daily lives. It houses one National Treasure, 13 Important Cultural Properties, and 21 Important Artworks; visitors can enjoy a variety of works in the genres of painting, Japanese lacquerware, ceramics, glass, and dyeing and weaving that date back to between the Heian and Edo periods. Japanese architect Kengo Kuma designed the museum building, which reflects a mixture of Japanese tradition and modernity, with wood and Japanese paper used in many parts of the structure. Suntory Museum of Art is located inside Tokyo Midtown, a modern, integrated complex of shopping malls, offices and hotels. Tokyo Midtown is conveniently connected with the exits of Roppongi Station, served by the Oedo and Hibiya Subway Lines.
