What's the weather like in Tokyo? Forecast for March 18-24: Warmer weather ahead
Warmer weather is expected for much of the week, with Tokyo seeing highs around 20°C (68°F) Wednesday. Showers are likely Thursday, and temperatures will gradually cool toward the weekend. Expect evening temperatures to remain somewhat brisk.
What to pack for Tokyo?
・It's cooler - packing for winter weather is advised.
・Bringing a winter coat and sweater is recommended; you will want thermals and warmer wear in layers particularly if you'll be traveling into the higher elevations.
・Be sure to bring long-sleeved shirts and jeans, with warmer socks comfortable sneakers or shoes. A hat is recommended too.
Flowers beginning to bloom around Tokyo
Cherry blossoms are budding in many areas around Tokyo, with some trees opening. First blooms are anticipated this Friday, with peak around March 29. For details, see the "Cherry Blossom Forecast" below.
The act of viewing the blossoms is called hanami and is, without a doubt, the highlight of the spring calendar.
And with good reason, too, as there is nothing quite like being bathed in the blossoms on a clear spring day as you sip Japanese sake and enjoy delicious seasonal food with family and friends. What's the weather like in Japan? Weather Forecast for March 18-24
Looking at the weather forecast for the rest of Japan, most areas will be seeing mostly clear weather, with scattered showers toward mid-week.
Hokkaido and the north country are expected to see partly cloudy skies, with rain Thursday and snow Friday. Daytime highs will be cool, hovering around 9℃; evening temperatures dipping down to around freezing. If you will be heading to Hokkaido or to the Tohoku region, be sure to pack warm clothes fit for winter, including winter boots and a good cold-weather jacket.
Meanwhile, the greater Osaka and Kyoto area as well as Fukuoka and northern Kyushu are expected to see partly overcast skies throughout the week and generally pleasant weather, with showers likely on Thursday. Daytime highs will be cool, around 15°C with lows in the single digits. Dressing in layers for winter is still advised.
As for Okinawa (Naha), showers are expected for much of the week, clearing up on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Daytime temperatures will be comfortably in the low to mid 20s℃ for much of the week.

Spring in Japan brings a large amount of pollen with it, with cedar and cypress the more prominent sources. Although not everyone has seasonal allergies, if you do experience hay fever in your home country, you may wish to consider taking hay fever medication ahead of time to prepare.
