No.3:Yamagataya Paper Shop

Established in 1879. Our store’s first owner, Hyōjirō Taki, began as an apprentice at a paper shop in Nihonbashi. Later, he opened his own branch of the business in Jinbōchō, Kanda. Over 130 years later, his shop has continued its business of selling Japanese paper. The storehouse at the back area of the shop survived the fires that ravaged Kanda area in 1913, the Great Kanto Earthquake, and air raids in Tokyo during the World World II, and still protects large quantities of valuable Japanese paper, even to this day. We carry many varieties of Japanese paper from all over Japan, as well as paper products that we manufacture in-house. Besides kōzogami (Japanese tissue), hōshogami (white mulberry paper), calligraphy paper, shoji paper, chiyogami (decorative paper), and handicraft paper, we also offer our own self-manufactured writing paper, envelopes, cards, and pochi-bukuro (decorative envelopes for gifts). Please come and visit us for all your Japanese paper needs.
