Kawagoe Kashou Kuradukurihonpo's Ichibangai store is a Japanese confectionery store established in 1887, located along the traditional Japanese warehouses of Kawagoe, a popular sightseeing spot a short walk from Kawagoeshi Station and Hon-Kawagoe Station.
Our sweet makers spare no time and effort in making the finest bean jam and pay particular attention to ingredients and technique; we would like our customers to feel their passion and devotion.
We use Japanese-grown sweet potatoes that have been steamed in a wicker basket with their skins still on, glutinous rice that has been cultivated in Japan by experienced farmers, and choice Hokkaido Tokachi adzuki beans. These are made into the highest quality Japanese sweets through the masterful skills of our sweet makers and finally be sophisticated.
Recently Kawagoe has also seen an influx of foreign tourists, particularly from Asian countries, and the variety of the visitors who come to our store looking for sweets is growing.
A product that is particularly popular with foreign visitors is our sweet potato-based ”Beniakakun,” the flavor unique to a Japanese confectionery store, which has been recognized in a contest commending top sweets selected by industry professionals for six consecutive years (from 2013 to 2018).
When you visit Kawagoe for sightseeing, why not stop by and have a taste.
