Shibuya Crossing is renownedly the world’s busiest crossing—but from 9:00 p.m. on December 31, the entire area will be shut down for cars and transformed into one massive outdoor countdown party! A stage will be erected right in front of Shibuya 109, so look forward to celebrating New Year’s at one of Tokyo’s most iconic locations!
The countdown event on the evening of December 31 will be massive, expecting thousands of people. Sponsored by Coca-Cola Japan, the event is called “YOU MAKE SHIBUYA COUNTDOWN” and gets the extra slogan of “Kanpai (Cheers) with Coke.” The stage in front of Shibuya 109 will see a rich program to appropriately get the New Year’s party going.
Characters of the massively popular “Monster Strike” mobile game and anime will gather around Shibuya MODI and Koen-Dori (the street where the Disney Store is located), allowing fans to get a real-life gaming experience! A 10-meter tall balloon of the monster Oragon is one of the many highlights, along with snow globe performances and more!
