Umenoyu

Umenoyu was built in 1927 in the town of Senju Tatsutacho. In 1941, the bathhouse was moved to Senju Asahicho, and in 1955, the current building was erected. This traditional Japanese bathhouse, with an architecture resembling a temple, has been featured in many television programs both in Japan and overseas. Despite its old-fashioned external appearance, the inside is clean and bright. The bath is slightly on the hot side — 45℃ in winter and 43℃ in summertime. The well water, pumped up from 80 meters and clean enough to drink, is heated by gas, producing soft water that many claim is gentle on the skin. Facilities include handicapped-accessible baths, seated and standing showers, and a laundromat. Umenoyu is just a one-minute walk from the Higashi-guchi Exit of Kitasenju Station on the JR Line, Tokyo Metro Line, Tobu Line and Tsukuba Express.
