Akebono Children's Forest Park

あけぼの子どもの森公園

Description

Akebono Children’s Forest Park opened in July 1997 after being designated the ”Heisei Commemorative Children’s Forest Park.” Admission is free. It was built in the hope that children would develop into thoughtful individuals. The park has colorful and beautiful landscapes each season. In spring and summer, plants and flowers bloom richly, and in fall, the area turns vivid red. Winter brings white, mysterious landscapes of snow. Monthly events include introducing traditional Japanese toys: beanbags, bilboquets, spinning tops, stacked Daruma games, menkos (a game where you slap down a card in order to turn over your opponent's), fukuwarai (like pin the tail on the donkey), tiddlywinks, and a stamp rally (collecting a series of stamps). About a 20-minute walk from Motokaji Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.
