- This is Kyoto Sanjo, which was once depicted as the starting/ending point of the Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido.

- This building is the former Nippon Life Kyoto Sanjo Building, which is partially a registered tangible cultural property.
- The cultural property part of the building, which began construction in 1912 and was completed in 1914, was designed by the Tatsuno & Kataoka Architectural Office, led by Tatsuno Kingo, known for Tokyo Station, and their style is well reflected in the stone-clad exterior. Currently, all that remains is one span of the company building facing Yanagi-no-Baba Street, which was demolished in 1983, leaving only that part, and the office building was expanded.
