Description

Koetsu-ji Temple was founded in 1656 during the Mereki period. Originally, the land for the temple had a simple thatched hut on it, and was bestowed to Koetsu Honami from Ieyasu Tokugawa in 1615. Koetsu moved there together with his relatives and other artisans. There, they began to demonstrate their talents for ceramics and tea ceremonies.
