      Wearing a “Yukata”, a cotton summer kimono, why don’t we enjoy “Bon Odori” or a kind of folk dance for Obon to welcome the spirits of the dead?

      A Setagaya Ward Resident’s House in Ikenoue, Setagaya, Tokyo (Nearest Station: Ikenoue on the Keio Inokashira Line)

      Limited to: 15 Persons

      For further information;
      Obon is a summer event in Japan to worship the spirits of ancestors.
      People gather at the precinct yard of temples in the Obon season and dance with music.

      Bon Odori (dance) is originally an event to calm the ancestral spirits that come back during Obon. However, it is enjoyed as a recreational event nowadays and the religious meaning has softened.

      Schedule of the Day
      5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Green Tea Time
      5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Enjoy Japanese Culture
      7:00 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Delicious Dinner
      7:45 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Hand-held Fireworks (like sparkers)

      Green Tea Time:
      Traditional Japanese Tea Time. The green tea served on the day is not the thick one for tea ceremonies but the light one for everyday use.

      Enjoy Japanese Culture:
      Wear a “Yukata” and enjoy “Bon Odori (dance)”.

      Delicious Dinner:Tempura and Somen(cold fine noodles)
      Tempura is a Japanese dish consisting of seafood and vegetables that have been battered and deep-fried. It was originally brought to Japan from Portugal and has become its own dish in Japan.

      Enjoy cold fine noodles for summer (Japanese vermicelli) called Somen. Somen are very thin white noodles made from wheat flour. It is served in a large glass bowl of icy water. It is eaten cold after being dipped in a special sauce.
