Japan:Lodgings

Equipped with tatami-mat flooring and large public baths, traditional Japanese inns called ryokan are the most unique accommodations for an authentic Japan trip; mainly but not exclusively found in popular hot spring areas. Especially common in bustling urban areas are simple city hotels, focusing on functionality and convenient access. Major resort areas, such as Okinawa, Izu, and Atami, on the other hand, offer a variety of large touristic hotels with all kinds of services. Other types of accommodations, such as capsule hotels, hostels, and guest houses, can be found all over the country.
