Cafes in Tokyo provide a space where you can have a relaxing time while enjoying the fresh air. Take a comfortable seat and sip some of the best coffee around! Here are 4 of our picks around the city.
1. MEURSAULT - Sumida River view
This cafe has a superb view of Tokyo Skytree (R) over the Sumida River by Asakusa. Enjoy homemade cakes and tarts while feeling a gentle breeze from the river and looking at water-buses (sightseeing boats) and seagulls from a terrace seat. It really is a moment of bliss. At night, colorful illuminations from the neighboring bridges and buildings create a different scenery from the daytime and look magical. The cake shop on the basement floor also sells cookies and jams. It is always crowded with many customers purchasing gifts.

2. Gallery ef - Cafe with a traditional Japanese storehouse
Have a break in the cafe with a traditional Japanese storehouse built in 1868. It is located near the A5 exit of Asakusa Station. You can easily spot its nice black paneled wall. It has only 20 seats inside the cafe. The antique items on display create a retro atmosphere. This cafe serves specialties of Asakusa such as coffee brewed with the beans roasted at the famous Cafe Bach and sandwiches made with homemade bread from Pelican bakery, yet another reason to come here. The cafe renovated the inside of the storehouse for use as an art gallery and regularly organizes art exhibitions and music events.

3. Canal Cafe - Right on the water; enjoy Tokyo's seasons
The cafe is located on the former outer moat of the Edo Castle. In spring, cherry blossoms start blooming at the same time and this place becomes one of the most famous spots for cherry blossom viewing in Tokyo. While tasting its stone-baked pizzas, such as margherita lavishly topped with mozzarella cheese and salmon made with Norwegian salmon, you can enjoy a view that changes with the seasons. During lunchtime between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. you can eat as much salad as you want. This waterfront cafe in the middle of the city will make you feel like a traveler.
